CHICAGO (CBS) — Dozens of Chicago area bikers hit the road to fight gun violence.

They rolled through the South Side streets at dusk, some 35 members of motorcycle groups like the New World Riders and the Number One Stunnas and with nicknames like Boogie Down and Hercules.

Their goal, they say, is to attract attention and to warn young men against gang violence.

Asked if she feels that the ride will make a difference, Dawn Valenti said,” I don’t know unless I try. I honestly don’t know unless I try and I think even though they are gang members they are human.”

A rider nicknamed Hercules said they are riding to “try to reach some of the youth out here and stop a lot of the violence that is going on and see if we can have them put their guns down.”
